LOL, if it were not for the sticker on Ashley's shirt I would forget. Thankfully she does not throw it away (too often!). Hey this way you might not be pressured into buying the whole package of pics!!! I can't wait to see them though!

Dear Claire: I'm sure to buy the full package anyway. A couple years ago I forgot and the photographer gave them the full body poses. Big Kid was wearing the bottom of the pile sweats with holes in them. And they had Little Bit just wear her jacket in the picture. She was in Kindergarten and he was in 2nd and I had let them dress themselves that day. They might be some of my favorite pics ever. later-cb

picture day

Well, as it turns out picture day was two days ago at school. Neither kid bothered to remind me. Little Bit wore her "Teacher's Pet" Hello Kitty t-shirt. Big Kid wore his "I'm so innocent." Snoopy with cross bones t-shirt. I'm sure they both had big smiles.

p.s.

O.K. After I finished posting last night. Big Kid decided that he really could not see his ash cross well enough and was very dissapointed. So, I lit a match and cooled it off and tried to rub the carbon on his head to make a cross. My idea wasn't working so well. So, M went outside and dug an big hunk of cooled firepit remnant out of the fire pit. That made a wonderfully big cross. Big Kid had me take his picture 3 times. This is the one he liked the best. I hope in your day today, you get to make another person's day.

Ash Wednesday

Once again I go to ash Wednesday service and I get the biggest mark of everyone. Hmmm... Favorite conversations during/after service.
Big Kid works feverishly pushing Little Bit's hair off her forehead. Little Bit letting him and trying to push her hair around, too.
Me: "What are you doing?"
Big Kid: "Getting ready for our ashes."
Little Bit looked real proud.

After service seeing our friends. I say, "look at this, I think they thought I needed the most healing." The friend replys, "Are these suppossed to burn?"

Well, I hope y'all had a nice Ash Wednesday.

The bag

Quicken should change the tune you hear when the program boots up, because everytime I hear it I swear it sounds like the lyrics would be "you have no mon-ey."

When entering receipts into quicken, I always clean out my purse. Here's an account of everything I found in todays clean-out:
  • A stack, fist high of receipts that I need to enter into quicken.
  • two boxes of tic-tacs (the white minty ones, I cannot stand the fruit kind.) Both boxes only are half full.
  • One half box of Starbucks vanilla mints. I really don't care for them, after I purchased them. I'm sure to have this box in my purse another year from now.
  • One mini hand sanitizer- vanilla. love it. my kids love it, too.
  • 3 pens
  • a handfull of pennies and 3 dimes
  • 2 hair kabobs (you know, those things you put your hair in a ponytail with)
  • 1 lip liner
  • 1 lipstick
  • 1 jello strawberry flavored chapstick
  • 1 clear shiny lip gloss
  • 1 YUMMY dr pepper chapstick
  • 2 bouncy balls
  • 1 Nintendo DS pen
  • my wallet with the 500ish store cards to earn points.
  • a notebook
  • a stack of invites that i never handed out for fat tuesday dinner
  • 1 brownie badge that fell off Little Bit's Brownie sash.
  • a couple of coupons
  • and a sticker from the Clinton Library in Little Rock, AR

Yep. And I'm sure I REALLY need all that stuff. At least my lips will be smooth. ha!

happenins in my neck of the woodsland

recent happenin's in no particular order:
____________
Little Bit lost another tooth. Tooth fairy came and I forgot that she was coming to our house that night. I'm downstairs next morning and the conversation:

Little Bit at the top of the stairs: "I got some money!!!"

Me: "Money? From what?"

Little Bit waves her arm up in the air big like: "The tooth fairy came last night!"

Me: "She did?" Oh my I had forgotten. Thankfully, that tooth fairy was on the ball.

All the sudden plink, plink, plink, dink a plink!!! All the tooth fairy money fell out of the seran wrap it was put in and was falling down to the floor below. "AAAAAAHHHH!!!!!" wailed Little Bit.

Me: "Don't worry. We'll just pick it up."

So, we picked up the 46 cents and got out a regular plastic Ziplock bag. Seems the tooth fairy was tired and only found seran wrap and a little change the night before, but Little Bit was happy and that's all that mattered.

Speaking of Ziplock bags. Last night I opened the dryer and found a Ziplock bag in one piece melted on the side of the dryer. And more amazing, was it peeled right off.
_______________
And speaking of teeth, my neighbor kid did a nose dive off Little Bit's scooter last night in my driveway. He chipped off his front permanent tooth. YIKES!!! Thankfully, he has a good dentist and now a nice new fake tooth. And his little brother seemed to like the knowledge that I, too, have a fake front tooth. We're just glad that neighbor kid is ok.

Off the subject...this past weekend we went and ate at the steak on a stick, kid friendly restaurant. It was good. I tried something different this time. I ordered the steamed vegetables and scallops. It arrive on a plate in a small stainless steel bowl.

Big Kid's comment: "Mom, your food is in a dog bowl."

That didn't make it taste any better.
______________
Other things happening in my world. Yesterday, a fellow came by and offered his services to mulch our yard and we accepted. Yea!!! I don't have to do it!!! And today some people are coming to put new sod grass in our yard. Yea!!! Our backyard, had lost so many trees from Hurricane Ike, that we just had dirt left. That bothers M, so we're getting some green grass to run around barefoot. YEa!!!
______________
ok that's all the gabbin' i'm doin' this mornin'

my day is weird, how is yours

My day is weird, how is yours? I just went for a bike ride and was surrounded by ducks. They were walking in front of me on the sidewalk, so I stoped to let them pass. They all started rushing (ok waddling) towards me and surrounded my bike. I had to shoo them away enough to create a small path for me to wheel through. They didn't seem scared of me at all. I think God doesn't want me to exercise. :)

today

Plenty to do...no desire to do any of it. :)

Mouse...eek

The conversation in the car this morning:

Big Kid: "Oh, look what I found in my pocket. I got it from the spirit cart. It's my pet mouse. Squeek, squeek! Squeek, squeek..."

Big Kid holds up an eraser that looks like a computer mouse and is dangling it by the "plug cord" aka string, while shoving it in his sister's face.

Little Bit: "Ahhh...stop!"

Big Kid: "Yeah. This is my new pet mouse."

Little Bit: "I want to go to the spirit cart this Friday."

Me: "Do you have time to go to the spirit cart, if you ride the bus?"

Big Kid: "Yes."

Little Bit: "Can I have some money for the spirit cart?"

Me: "Yes. I'll give you a dollar on Friday. What all do they have at the spirit cart?"

Little Bit: "Mostly erasers, all kinds of erasers."

Big Kid: "Yeah. Erasers and pencils."

Little Bit: "Can I have two dollars, instead of one dollar?"

Me: "Why?"

Little Bit: "Because what I want costs two dollars."

Big Kid: "Oh, yeah that spiney ball. That's good."

Me: "I'll give you one dollar this Friday. And you can spend it or you can save it till next week and I'll give you another dollar. Then you will have the two dollars. Or you can take one dollar of your own money, plus the dollar I give you this Friday."

Little Bit: "O.K."

Big Kid waves his "pet mouse" around again.
