some randomness of October

Big Kid and his friend playing in the Jr. High Band at the local 8th grade football game.

I don't remember what Big Kid is up to in this picture, just some afternoon of whatever.

This is what I fed the kids for supper the other night.  Jack-O-Lanterns with rotten worms.

This is them getting their rotten supper. ha.

Red ribbon week.  Say no to drugs by wearing bright clothes & sunglasses
at Big Kids school.  It was funny seeing him so serious with these glasses on.

Ok. Just went to the bathroom and went to wash my hands,
almost freaked out from this in the corner.
Little Bit had left her Davy Crocket hat on the sink,
she wore her silver sequined hat instead
and gave her mother a heart attack.

Hallowing

Fall flowers I recieved from a friend.

I love my new jack-o-lantern chimena (actually holds candle).  Perfect for 90 degree Octobers.

Who can celebrate Hallowing without thinking of Christmas!!! Not me.
This is on my toaster in my kitchen.

Oh, the delights of Hallowing, childrens cute crafts and costumes.

my spooky entryway...

I love this dog, his eyes light up, and he jitters around asking for treats.

The witch's head moves and talks with green eyes lit up, the cauldron has smoke, and the heartbeat pumps with lightening sounds and the words "it's alive" being shouted.  Plus, I have my favorite poem copied for guests to take, "Spooks in the Privy."  And an assortment of black mice, snakes, scorpians and other good fun scattered amongst the fall folliage.

The front door welcoming you.  The coffin is new.
And Mummy loves to talk to you.

The kitchen door.  I had to turn of the scare crow.
He just would chatter on and on.
Plus, I scared myself too much taking out the trash at night.

Front view of the yard.
The wind keeps knocking down the tombstones.
But, the bats and cobwebs and pumpkins and spiders and ghosts
seem to all hold on.
I think my favorite is the Raven on the lamp post.
Gives it a real good effect.

Happy Hallowing!!!
Boo!

Skinny on Art

I had so much fun with this class.  I learned a lot and got to create a few fun things.

Go #5!!!

twirling at the festival and such

Found object turned into art

How do you like my lime bag made into a bag to hold Little Bit's school kindness coins?  I took a lime bag, cut it in half.  Added a string to close it and some charms on the bottom.  She loves it.  And so do I.

Spooky

Today I am a Lucky Girl

Today I am a lucky girl.  I have friends.  Many friends.  When I am down, they lift me up.  I can call my friends and they lift me up.  They set me upon their shoulders.  Even when they have more on their plate than I, they still help me out.  And I have my sisters.  They are my friends.  They will pray for me and understand me.  They are there for me.  And I have my parents.  My dad instintively knows the right time to call or email me.  We must be connected on some other level.  So, I am loved and I am thankful.
“Two are better than one,
Because they have a good return for their work:
If on falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered,
                two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Steve Jobs and 7 am on a Friday morning

Here it is 7 a.m. on a Friday morning.  I really should be waking up my daughter, as she is supposed to meet her teacher at school early this morning.  But, she doesn't have to be there until 8, so I feel she has a minute or two of sleep allowed.

I have been up since 5:15.  I had my alarm set at 5:30.  Nice.  I got my son and husband up and out the door.

M, my husband, went to work.  Today is his day off. He has to go interview a potential new boss.  I find it strange that he interviews his own boss, but hey whatever works.  And the only other thought that rambles around is "I thought you had Fridays off."  But, I didn't say it out loud.  As, he seemed a little crabby and I'm guessing it was because he was thinking, "Hey, I thought I had Fridays off, and I have to go in and interview a potential new boss."  I hope the interview goes well for this guy.

I also had an interesting conversation with my son, Big Kid, this morning, while  he was moving his breakfast around  on his plate pretending like he had eaten something.

The conversation:

Big Kid: "We talked a lot about Steve Job yesterday at school."  He pronounced Job like the guy named Job in the bible, not like get a job and go to work.

Me: "You did?  What was being said.  Eat your vitamin.  You need to eat your vitamins. It's important."
Big Kid:  "I did."
Me: "You did not eat your vitamin.  I see it right there."

Fred Flintstones feet were sticking out under a waffle, just like the Wicked Witch from the East under Dorthy's house.

Big Kid: "I don't like these.  I think that's what made me throw up yesterday morning."  It was really his allergies yesterday morning, but who am I to argue?

Me: "O.K. Do you want the gummies?"  I have gummy vitamins for the kids, too.  I bought the Flintstone vitamins because I thought he couldn't eat the gummy vitamins with his braces. I was wrong.  He can eat anything with his braces.  He's quite talented in that respect.

Me, again:  "So, did you talk about Steve Jobs in all your classes?"
Big Kid: "Just mainly in Technology."
Me: "Well, what was said?"
Big Kid: "We had to write about an inventor.  So, Mr. Teacher said that we all should write about Steve Job (he pronounced it like the bible name).  So, that's what we did."
Me: "You know it's pronounced Jobs, not Job, right?"
Big Kid: "Yeah, Job."
Me: "No, Jobs."
Big Kid: "OK Job. Whatever."
Me: "OK Whatever."  Just the guy who invented everything you play with nowadays.  But, at least you know about Job.

Well, Little Bit, my daughter is up and going.  Better head on.

Happy Friday-ing!!!

Much to do and little time...just like always!
