i might have to get na-ked.
Boy, is it hot. I am down to shorts & a t-shirt & flip-flops. And this might not do it.
I have switched from hot coffee to iced coffee. You know if i'm out of jeans and not drinking hot coffee indoors, then it's hot and i'm without air conditioning.
Really, it hasn't been so bad this week. Almost cool as with air. Yet, I think over the week it's slowly getting hotter inside. I really don't mind it, if i sit and soak up the breeze of the ceiling fans. But, i've been up getting ready for company to come spend the night.
Yes, you got that right. My man has invited friends to spend the weekend in our no air downstairs house. Our upstairs little air conditioner is working hard. Last night, I think i heard it squeaking, "I think i can. I think i can." I hope they are still our friends after this hot weekend.
Last night was the first night i woke up in the night and thought, "man, it's hot." i woke up around 4 a.m. and it was warm and muggy.
i'm thinking seriously of taking the kids to Starbucks and soak up some air conditioning. Yet, they haven't been home all week and spent it outside, so they are just laying around soaking up the ceiling fan breezes and not interesting in traipsing all the way to Starbucks, just to get their chill on. And after the week of camp fun in the sun, no one is interested in going to the pool to stay cool.
So, i'm sitting here in front of mild heat lamp of the computer, soaking up the breeze. Resting up before i make the trek into the bedroom to fold the laundry. i just finished all the laundry from this week and i still was doing my children's laundry before they got home. and now i have 2 suitcases of laundry in the car. note: in the car. i think i will wait until the sun goes down to unload the suitcases. And by then M and our company will have arrived. i hope they don't mind ponytails, short-shorts and car unloading this weekend.
until later-cb

Week 3 Summer
Can you believe that we've already had 3 weeks of summer? I cannot!
This was a Looonnnggg week. But, that's because I've missed my babies [see previous posts, sad really that i get that worked up over my children]. Anyway, while my little bitty babies, ages 9 & 11 have been to sleep away church camp having the time of their lives with canoeing, swimming, ropes course, big inflatable jump thing in the lake, tubing and worship, i have been busy too.
Ok. so, maybe not busy. But, I did get a few things done and did a few fun things.

Ok. so, maybe not busy. But, I did get a few things done and did a few fun things.
- Went to the movies with girlfriends and saw Knight & Day with Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz. Cute movie. I give it a "can't wait to watch it again on Sunday Afternoon tv movie re-run, chick flick rating."
- Went out and rode around on boat for 30 minutes for sunset ride. Burnt up only 1/6th of the tank of gas. I think this is a very efficient engine. M wants to burn up the whole tank, so we will be back out there soon. Must say it was the most relaxing boat ride we have ever taken on that boat. Of course, we were just riding and there was no packing or supervision needed on my part, just fun. i could use more boat rides like that.
- We ate dinner at Ransom Steakhouse & Salon in Montgomery. It had good atmosphere. I like the old tin ceilings. And the food was pretty good. The place was full of people on a Thursday night. But, it was hard to hear in there [i am getting old, arrgghh.]. I give it a one thumb up.
- I installed new knob pulls in the kid's bathroom, new air duct vents, a new toliet paper holder, new bath towel bar and took down and repainted behind old mirror. Today I hang the new mirror. :)
- Spent a whole day just laying around doing nothing.
- Spent a lot of time thinking about things. Good to mull over.
- did laundry [not dead yet, as long as there is laundry].
- went out with girlfriends to the Melting Pot. Had a super fun time!!!
- Rode bikes with M to Alamo Joe's for dinner.
- ok. i'm sure there was lots more, but i cannot remember and i have to get going. i pick up the kids today at 11:45 and i must prepare for company for the weekend that i just found out about last night at 10 p.m. i'm skipping my high school reunion this weekend, but some of M's best friends are in town this weekend, so we will be having good time. happy weekend.

ok so i didn't have to cook
That's right. I haven't had to cook all week. I did make supper last night, just because i felt like it. And i fried up some bacon this morning. But, i sure haven't put on the spread most of this week.
And can i say that my house is soooo stinkin' quiet. I didn't realize how much of my ENTIRE life revolves around my children. I'm always hauling them places, cooking them something, opening something plastic that they cannot get into, picking up whatever is dropped, cleaning out the bathtub from all the left over toys and suds, handing out hugs or bandaides, and doing all sorts of stuff associated with my kids. And i miss it.
Seriously, it's much more fun to sit at a rowdy breakfast table with two children poking their feet at each other under the table and blaming one another for "touching me," then a quiet table with fried bacon and watermellon slices staring back up from the table with the faint buzz of the laptop glow on your husbands face. BORING. (in his defense, he is staying a little late from work this morning to spend a little time at home. i'm really more expounding upon my missing my little kids, who have decided, in their 9 & 11 year old age, to grow up instead of stay toddlers.)
So, dear camp, please return my children home soon. i am in desparate need of rowdiness.
p.s. this has been the longest part of summer.

welcome wednesday
Welcome Wednesday! We've (ok I) have made it half-way through the week of my children being gone to sleep away camp. Thankfully, I have the internet & can see all sorts of pics that have been loaded from camp showing what a great time they have been having! So, I don't have to worry at all. Although, every picture of my daughter has been in her swimsuit and no glasses. So, i guess i didn't need to pack all those clothes. And come to think of it, i think all pics of my son have just been with his swim clothes on, too. Who cares? They all are smiling in all their pics! YEA!!!
oh, M is almost ready for breakfast. i still have to cook. what's up with that?

The other kid said, "come here. what does my breath smell like?" He gives a big huff of his breath in my face. "Does that smell like throw up and mint?"
AAAAAHHHHHhhhhhh! "Uh. No? Smells like hamburger. ugh." with a big shiver.
Me: "Why? Was I suppossed to smell that?"
Big Kid: "Well, i used some mouthwash after a big burp."
Me: "Really? ewww."
Big Kid: "well, um no. well, yes."
UGH!

week 2 and counting

Well, another BUSY week of Summer has almost ran past us. I've got a little down time, as I've got the kids and their friends settled down to "poopcorn" and the movie "Hotel for Dogs" on the big screen in the living room. Did i ever mention how much i LOVE watching movies like i'm at the movies only at home laying on the couch? that is, unless i've got little kids that are too busy hopping around and "needing" something every 2 minutes. i'm sure i will miss these days.
anywho, back to the week. let's recap...shall we?
Little Bit: She's been at TAKS camp all week. Today (Friday) was the last day for her. She had a great time and even came home with a stuffed animal that she said smelled like our dog Bark. I don't think she could have been any happier. She also went to a birthday party yesterday at pump-it-up (big inflatable jump house place). And has had many playdates with friends. She also had two swim lessons and one tutoring lesson.
Big Kid: He had soccer camp Monday through Thursday. He said it was HOT! But, he had a fun time and was happy every day. He also has had LOTS of playdates, one every day it seems. A guitar lesson. And a trip or two to the pools.
M & I: M's been busy with work. Still recovering from the big trip to Singapore last week. Sunday we all went over to the neighbors and swam in their pool. That was super fun and relaxing. And a GREAT way to start off the week. I am still in recovery from that silly cold. I think i've finally almost got over it. WHEW! That took FOREVER. Our downstairs airconditioner went out. You would think that we'd have just a big ole sweatbox here at the house, yet it hasn't been that bad. Thankfully, i grew up in the South and we just drew the curtains and turned on all the ceiling fans. Next, we'll be putting alumnium foil on the windows. ha. Actually, we're scheduled on the 28th to get two new air conditioners. Just in time for the July heat. So, that will be good. M has reminded me that will be my Christmas and birthday presents for the next year. I think i'm ready to remind him that's not funny. ;0 And on a better note, we went out with a bunch of friends last night on the Market Street Wine Walk. We have a GREAT time every year with this. And this year quite a few friends rolled out with us making the time even better!!! I think everyone had a super good time. I know i did.
Well, that's about it for this week so far. I think i'm off to watch "hotel for dogs" with the boys. The girls have retired upstairs to the airconditioning and playing games. I think i won't even check on them. i'll just clean up the mess when the company leaves. it's easier and more fun for everyone that way.
i hope that everyone has a great father's day weekend. i love my dad and hope he has a great weekend especially!

Birdhouses
Well, summer is upon us. Last week was a full & busy week. This week promises no less.
Little Bit is already off to TAKs camp. She leaves the house by 7:15 a.m. every morning. Thankfully, we have a carpool going with friends.
I am about to wake up Big Kid. Soccer camp is the camp de jur. It should be nice and hot for the kids this week. Thankfully, it is in the mornings.
We'll probably go to the pools some this week. And I have promised Little Bit a trip to the store to buy new earrings. She was supposed to get new earrings put in on Sunday, but long story short she basicly got her ears repierced. ouch. It was an honest mistake.
M has made it home from Singapore. He's staying home to work today. I wonder if he gets more or less work done from home. I imagine he gets more work done whenever i'm not home asking him how to spell "de jur", which neither he nor spell check know the answer to said question. Or my giggly self when I put the fresh hot made sausage balls on a pig plate and i just laugh and laugh when i ask him if he wants any sausage balls. i know it's wrong. but, it's hard not to find sausage balls on a pig plate funny.
oh, just spied the time. must roll Big Kid out of the bed and have him get ready for camp.

summer: week 1
Well, it has been a super busy week for the first week of summer. Let's re-cap shall we:
- Big Kid has had Planet 56 day camp, aka vacation bible school for 5th and 6th graders. So, its go to camp at a different time each day either 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. and different items required each day. Even though it's a lot to keep up with, I have to say it was last year his favorite camp and will probably be this year again. Of course paint ball & going to a big water park probably helps.
- Little Bit had the first of the week off, then she started her TAKS camp on Wednesday. It's a test taking help camp. But, she's had lots of fun with it already. One of her friends goes to the camp as well, so they've enjoyed riding together to and from camp and having play dates this week.
- Other Misc. items for Big Kid: sleep over at friends & playing with friends in cul-de-sac. He's been gone most of the week with camp and such.
- Other Misc. items for Little Bit: playing with friends at our house & in cul-de-sac, going to pool with me; going to see Shrek the Final time we have to go see this Franchise movie with me; and getting her hair cut in one hour from this post.
- M has been traveling this week. This week he is in Singapore. He sounds like he's having a great time. Of course anytime he travels, he always sounds happier. So, I'm happy for him.
- This week I've been recovering from my cold. I'm on week 5. I decided i was sick of being sick, so I've taken cold medicine even though I'm allergic and actually taken a nap once this week. I'm feeling much better, but that might just be the cold medication talking ;) Also, since i'm finally recovering, I cleaned house a little, laundry, moved my bed and clean all the dust bunnies [yes they mutiplied and also produced a sock, washrag, big dead bug, a light up ball, some dryer sheets, and a coupon], and trimmed the bushes out front [i can see my house now], and washed out the stinky/buggy trash can [yikes, thankfully i'm past the nausia].
- Let's see...what else. Oh yes, Big Kid tried out for the competitive soccer team. He made the team, but he decided that he just wanted to take a break from soccer. So, i guess no soccer this Fall. It will be different. But, I'm sure he will find something else to fill that time. And really i just want him to be happy.
- And my grandmother had a big heart attack. So, when i was worried about my 90 year old grandpa and his pneumonia, I guess i should have worried about my grandma. But, really i think a lot of this is just a lesson, that there is no sense in worrying about things. You just never know how it's all going to work out, only God does. Grandma is not great, but ok and i think they are sending her home today. I would worry, but i think it wouldn't help any.
- hmmm...i'm looking forward to hanging out with my sister this weekend. we're going to see a hot air balloon launch & air show. I'm quite excited. i am looking forward to something exciting! Airplanes & sisters make everything good.
So, basically, it's all going really well. I was on the down slope of the roller coaster, but back up we go!!! Wwwwweeeeeee!!!!

30 minutes and counting
i have just listened to the Chippettes (the Alvin & the Chipmunk girl counter-parts) sing "i gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night" over and over for the last 30 minutes on Little Bit's mp3 player and it's still going strong.
help.
help.

ok maybe summer won't be that long
This morning Little Bit brought me her little bunny purse and shoved it in my face.
Little Bit: "Stick your hand in and pull out your fortune."
Me: "Hmm. what?"
Little Bit: "Stick your hand in and get your fortune."
Me: "oh."
I stuck my hand in and pulled out a small slip of paper with Little Bit's handwritting on it.
"You are going to be a star."
Oh, i like that fortune. And strangely, everyone drew the fortune that she wrote just for them.
M's fortune: "You will get a 3-D tv."
Big Kid's fortune: "You will get some prizes."
And Little Bit's own fortune: "You will be poblier." Meaning you will be popular.
What a great start to the day.
It might not be that long of a summer.

hmmm
i just got an announcement from Little Bit: "Mom, we're popping the last bag of popcorn. We need to go to the store today."
Now Big Kid's trumpet is out and he's playing it, while Phinneas & Ferb are blaring on the tv and Little Bit is in the "bird house" aka couch cushion tunnel.
it might be a long summer...
i think we are going to to pool for a break.

schools out for summer
School's out for summer.
So did we sleep in? Yes, to a resounding 7:00 a.m. And now at 8:49 a.m., my children are entertaining themselves by tearing up my bed.
Some comments overheard:
"i just found your mouth."
"tickle, tickle, pickle, pickle."
"where did you go."
"you are such a baby."
"aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh."
"you hit me in the face two times, i mean 3 times."
"imagine what's happening next."
i think i now know what they mean by the bed monsters.
again, it may be a long summer.

riding in the car
Last night when returning home from our trip to Arkansas, the kids were watching a movie my mom gave them. The first part of the movie was Gulliver's Travels. Then they showed some cartoon shorts. I'm not sure what they were watching, but I hear from the back speakers in a deep, creepy old woman's voice, "There were many, many cockroaches. But the birds ate the cockroaches." hmmm...
