dear diet diary

Dear Diet Diary,

Today sucks. After 5 days of being good, I have gained 6 pounds. WHAT!?!

On Monday I decided that I'm tired of being a NFF. I'll tell you what that means only in person. I don't type such not so nice things; I only say them out loud, sometimes really loud. Anyway, on Monday I decided today is the day to change myself.

So, I decided I'd become a daytime vegan, dubbed a.m. vegan by my friend Abs. I'm sure you're asking yourself what is an a.m. vegan. Well, this means to me that I'm only eating fruit and vegetables during the daytime until 5 p.m. Then I'm having a regular supper with one meat and one starch. And one small starch snack. Let's face it. I could never be a full day vegan, but i think this is a good start. At least I'm trying to be healthy.

I'm also riding my bike daily, as little as 3 miles and as much as 6 miles. Of course, I'm a destination rider. Meaning that I'm riding my bike to a place. Like to Starbucks or Jumba Juice or La Madeline or Borders. I reward myself with something that falls into my a.m. vegan rules or with a retail therapy gift item for myself. Then I ride home. It's really quite the incentive and makes it o.k. to take the long ride.

So, even though I've stinkin' gained weight this week. I've decided to stick with it for at least 3 months. We'll see where this gets me.

Morning conversation:
(reminds me of my dad's story about his friend at the sales training meeting)

I had Big Kid read something at the breakfast table. Little Bit was suppossed to be listening.

Thinking I would catch her I ask: "Little Bit, can you tell us what Big Kid just read?"
Little Bit: "Yes." She sits back in her chair and closes her eyes and tilts her head back.
Me: "Well, what did he say?"
Little Bit: "I'm just saying it to myself in my head."
Me: "What. O.K. you win."

Later while putting her shoes on for school, Little Bit wouldn't lift her feet up for me to put on the shoe.
Me: "Just how old do you think you are?"
Little Bit: "Eight!" with a big smile.
Me: "You're not eight yet."
Little Bit: "I know. But, you asked."

I think she must be older than me, because she's definately smarter than me already.

Well, school started this past Monday. Both Big Kid and Little Bit like their teachers and they both have good friends in their classes this year. It should be a great year!!!

I'm having difficulty uploading my pics from the first day, but as soon as I can get them off my camera, i'll post them.

I have to say thank you to my little sister Chelle from when called me on Wednesday. She said that she was calling because she knows I usally get depressed this time of year, but she was proud of me that I actually sounded fine on the phone. I didn't even cry on Monday. WOW. But, I do appreciate my little sister calling to check up on me.

In mentioning the beginning of the school year, I must note that we did have the BEST summer ever. I really wish that summer did run longer. I say that we should have a groundhog here in Houston and we'd name him Huggable Hal. And he would come out of his burrow and see his shadow. Then we'd have 4 more weeks of summer. I'd like that. Wouldn't you?

O.K. Sorry for the long post, but it's been foreeevvvveeerrrr since I posted and I had much to say today. And truthfully, i'm just procrastinating. :)

I think this pic is good for what the future holds.

Happy Friday!
