from last week

two quickies from last week.

first. a conversation:

Little Bit: "When ChaCha (the neighbor chichichua dog) sees Wilbur (the other neighbor golden lab dog) she growls at him like this RRRRRRRRR! (she bares her teeth) because she doesn't like Wilbur!"
Me: "Oh, um hmm."
Little Bit: "I know what ChaCha is saying to Wilbur."
Me: "What?"
Little Bit: "Wilbur you better get away from my boyfriend! He's mine!"
Me: "Oh."

second. a story:

Well there it was the third day of school and I was preparing to head out to see my sister Chelle about 3 hours away. That was until I got a call from the school nurse.

School Nurse: "Mrs. Bright, it seems your daughter has a tooth ache."
Me: "Is she hurting really bad?"
School Nurse: "Well, it's hard to tell. It's a tooth ache. They can wiggle and have pain but not be able to see anything. But, she did mention that you are going out of town today. And that may have something to do with it."
Me: "Well, I'll come up there. Better safe than sorry."

I'm thinking to myself. Yes, maybe it is that she knows I'm doing something other than just sitting here waiting for them to get home from school. Or maybe it has something to do with it being the 3rd day of school, for you know the schedule of things. The first day is meet and greet. The second is organization. And the third is work. I decide to bring some floss with me.

I walked into the nurse's office and there sat Little Bit with a big grin on her face.
Me: "I thought your tooth hurts."
Little Bit changed from a big grin to a wide open mouth with a look of "I got you here and I'm so proud of myself, but I'm going to play along so I don't get in trouble, but gosh I'm good."
Me: "Where does it hurt."
Little Bit: "Right here." She pointed to a back tooth.
I pulled out my floss and flossed around that tooth.
Me: "There. Does that feel better?"
Little Bit: "Yes. I think it just needed to be flossed."
Me: "I think so. Ok. Go back to class and be good."
School Nurse: "Oh, she's always good."
Me: "Yes and smart, too."
Little Bit wondered out the door and down the wrong hallway, and then meandered her way back up the hall and down the right hall and down to class.

And I drove like crazy to my sister's house and had a lovely lunch and then booked it home.

Oh, they are smart! Yep, Little One has been trying out different cries or protests lately when I say, "No" to him or take away something he doesn't need to play with like the trash and trashcan, writing pens, etc. And the Oscar goes toooo... LOL
