Last week, we down here in the Houston area had ice. Being so used to having cold winter weather, the school closed on Wednesday.
My kids were so excited that they ate a quick breakfast and put on some warm clothes and went outside to play. The big question/conversation between Big Kid and Little Bit before heading outdoors was "What do icecycles taste like?" I told them they would have to just go outside and find out.
So, while outside they picked ice cycles off of everything and ate a ton of them. They ate the ice cycles off of the patio table, the ones that dangles off of plants, then I saw them start to eat the ones that were dangling off of the garbage can. Did I stop them?........No. I just let them go about their fun time in their icy wonderland. When they came back inside they said all the ice cycles tasted good.
I also enjoyed watching Big Kid and Little Bit punching the big leaf plants in my back yard. As they punched a leaf, the big sheet of ice on it would shatter and fall to the ground. They would laugh and punch another.
Afterwards, they came inside and enjoyed a nice big cup of hot chocolate with real mini marshmallows.
