happy half birthday

So, Big Kid gets up this morning all bright eyed and bushy tailed...stating in a proud, puffed up way: "TODAY is MY Half Birthday!"

You see...today makes Big Kid 8 and 1/2 years old.

So, I sang him this, "Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to You!" That's where I stopped, with half the song. His dad and sister told him, "Birthday." They could have chosen either "Happy" or "Birthday." Just not both.

This all stems from when my little sister Chelle would have her half birthday party during the school year, because her regular birthday falls in June. We would have half a plate, have a cake, half a party hat, half a napkin, etc... My kids have loved this story and have been counting the days to their half birthday...maybe I'll come up with half a cake for Big Kid...but then I'll be doing it again in two months for Little Bit....I think they're worth it. Don't you?

Also, been traveling a bit lately...Let's just say I went halfway around the world LITERALLY!!!
