Last week of summer...Last Monday of Summer...I say, "Welcome. You shall be full and stuffed. This I decree."
So, we did go on the boat. And despite all my grumbling and negative attitude, it didn't rain a drop on us out on the lake. And despite all my grumbling and negative attitude, we all had a good time. I've just got to get rid of that grumbling and negative attitude, even if I'm tired. I always end up having a good time anyway.
So, Little Bit had a friend sleep over last night. I woke up late this morning around 8 a.m. The girl who slept over was wondering around the house wide awake.
Me: "What time did you get up?"
LB friend: "6 a.m."
Me: "Did you watch t.v. or something?"
LB friend: "No."
Me: "So, what did you do all morning?"
LB friend: "Not much."
ok.
Big Kid just headed out the door for tennis camp. His friend's mom called last week and asked if he was interested. I said no. I thought he'd like a week of rest and wasn't into tennis. As soon as I hung up the phone. "Who was that? What did they want? Yes. I want to go to tennis camp." So, he's going to tennis camp. And I have to say he looked so old to me today. Very teenage. And his two friends came in to pick him up and they looked like teenagers. And it just amazes me how a summer can change a person from a young child to a full blown teenager. My eyes got all misty. I want to cling to the child, but I must embrace the teen.
OK. Less misty thoughts...a conversation.
Me: "Do you girls want some breakfast? Are you hungry?"
Girls: "Not right now."
Me: "O.K. I can do 'not right now' all day long."
Happy Last Monday of the Summer of 2011!
