Ike

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who live in Galveston, as Ike hits it right now. We live just north of Houston and have be part of the craziness. We're "sheltering in place." Thankfully, where we live is 1 1/2 hours north of the gulf. Thus, we're expecting rain, wind and maybe loose power.

The kids have been playing outside all morning enjoying the cooler temperatures and partly cloudy skies. Today at 1 p.m. we're having a hamburger/hotdog cookout for the neighborhood before the weather changes. If you live local and are around, you're welcome to drop by for a free meal. Just bring your own drinks for you and your children.

We've put away all our outside decorations and such. We've got a small genarator to keep our mini-fridge going. We have a small gas cookstove and enough mini propane bottles to last us a month. The underneath of the stairs is cleaned out with pillows, a flashlight, a battery radio and plenty of books to keep us busy, if needed. We went out with all the crazy people yesterday and gassed up the vehicles and stocked up at the grocery store. Everyone was nice to each other in the stores, just chatting it up. Everyone seemed to want to chat and pass on the info that they had, which was good.

Well, I better go get ready for company. Happy Thursday!
Much love!
