Well, last night was elective night at the jr. high that Big Kid is going to this fall. Yes, yes. That is right my itty, bitty baby is going into the 7th grade. He's got 6 more school years left before he flys the nest. aaaaaaarrrrggghhh.
Actually, it's great. He's excited. He picked all his classes. Yes, picked. As if they were already in college, they are selecting classes. It seems so soon! I digress. So, he picked all of his classes the first day they sent the sheet of paper home. He knew exactly what he wanted and that the selections were good. I wasn't so sure. I didn't know if he needed to take more pre-ap classes, or what the school would be like, or if he could take football, soccer & band, or what were these elective classes all about. But, he knew. He knew that he could just take the pre-ap science and the pre-ap math; the math & science academy would still take his application later. He knew that when we went to the technology I & the computer applications classrooms, we would be impressed and secretly wish we could take the classes, too. He knew that when we went to the band room, there would be a brochure that stated in the first statement: "You can take football & band. We work with the coaches and they work with us."
So, instead of having a child that was unsure and carrying around their green sheet of paper last night trying to pick some classes to fill in their schedule; we had a confident, young man that I should just learn to trust his judgement, even at such a young age.
